COLOR GUARD
Posts/presents
the American, Texas, and school flags at school, Corps, community functions,
etc. Provides an opportunity for cadets to learn to respect and properly
present national and state flags. Participates in local, area, and statewide
competitions and demonstrations. Uniform and personal appearance are evaluated
as part of the competition. Color Guard Commander will be selected by the
SASI/ASI, with recommendations from the Operations Officer (after coordinating
with the Group Commander).
DRILL TEAM
Cadets who
enjoy drill, "polish" their drill skills learned in the classroom and drill
field and form a drill team that performs in local, area, and statewide
drill competitions and demonstrations. Membership requires an extra commitment
from cadets since they will spend many hours learning the manual of arms,
perfecting close-order drill, practicing standardized movements, developing
"free-style" movements, and taking care of their uniforms. During competitions,
not only is drill precision evaluated, but the uniform and personal appearance
are evaluated as part of the competition. Drill Team Commander will be
selected by the SASI/ASI, with recommendations from the Operations Officer
(after coordinating with the Group Commander).
